Rethinking Democracy: Yes, and… as a tool to strengthen civic discourse

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

As the world becomes increasingly polarized and reactionary, we need to develop caring and decent ways to engage disagreements, debate contentious and difficult issues (poverty, climate, war, gender), and strengthen democracy. Improvisation and play are essential tools in the creation of performance activism, a new movement for radical democracy. In this 60-minute workshop we will explore how applied improvisation training methods and improv-based teaching can bridge differences and promote the types of civic engagement and civil discourse our world urgently needs. We will lead games, exercises and the performance of a philosophical and political discussion about new possibilities through play.
