Within the workshop we will exploring ways freestyling contributes to a deeper understanding of ones perspective of the world today. Participants will be given a series of activities that require them to use words thrown at them as the springboard to talk in rhythm and rhyme. Activities such as this encourage people to go beyond the think before you speak and just say what comes to mind, which can often lead to startling realisations of what one truly thinks about a subject i.e. race, sexuality.
Using my own recording equipment and instruments, I will encourage participants to build the soundscape of silencing your internal voice and how this inability to speak out, or speak up can contribute to greater violences in our society e.g. victim blaming.
